This series, as amazing as it is, is hard to describe, so. From the book description: Welcome to Ikebukuro, where Tokyo’s wildest characters gather!! Meet an ordinary boy who daydreams about the extraordinary. A naive stalker girl. The strongest man in Ikebukuro. A shut-in doctor with questionable credentials. A hedonistic informant…and the “headless rider” astride a pitch-black motorcycle!? As their paths cross, this eccentric cast weaves a twisted, cracked love story…

In which Kit talks about her love for comic books and graphic novels.
So, for today’s activities, I planned to attend an AYCC (Australian Youth Climate Coalition [I think…])/350 event. The event started at around 3pm, but I arrived in the city at around 12. I did this on purpose - I wanted to make a day out of it all, I wanted to walk around the city by myself. So I spent two hours in Kinokuniya, reading books and manga, and ended up buying two manga volumes. In my defence, letting me into a bookstore is the same as letting a recovering alcoholic into a brewery - I cannot really control myself. Knowing this, I tried to restrict myself to the manga section. I knew that if I ventured into the heart of the fiction section, I would leave the store $100 poorer. For all of my precautionary mesures, I ended up spending $40 anyway. Woops. On the plus side, the manga that I bought isn’t exactly a ‘well known title’. The series is called “Mushishi” and it is by Yuki Urushibara. Apparently it won the ‘Kodansha Manga of the Year Award’. It was that little snippet of information that drew me to it. I stood in Kinokuniya for around an hour, reading this manga. At some point in this hour I left the store for a lunch break, but after lunch I returned and continued reading. The story, the characters, just drew me in like no other manga before it. The closest that any other manga has come is Fruits Basket. I’m not saying that “Mushishi” is anything like Fruits Basket in terms of artistic style or plot. Rather, it shares a special place in my heart with the Fruits Basket series. I highly recommend this manga; while the stories are episodic in nature, the imagination, wisdom and artistry held within its pages are well worth reading. I bought volume One and Two of “Mushishi”,
